The Christmas season is approaching, and so are the fairs where you can enjoy yourself and find something tasty and beautiful. After three years of forced break, the International Craft Fair returns to Bamberg! And we will be glad to see you in our corner.
Delicious
What are we preparing for you this year? As always, lots of delicious food. Traditional borscht, holubtsi (stuffed cabbage rolls), varenyky, liqueurs, and pastries with Lviv coffee. You´ve probably already tasted some of these, and if not, this is a great opportunity to start. And in addition to the delicious, there will also be something heart-warming. Ukrainian songs.
Heart-Warming
This year, we have invited two bands to perform on two different days. Another reason to visit us twice!
December, 16th at 15:30 – Children’s Choir
On Saturday, the children’s vocal and choral group under the direction of Liudmyla Panchuk and the Church Choir of St. George’s Parish will perform koliadky (Ukrainian carols). St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Diaspora in Nuremberg.
Liudmyla Panchuk says that a song may express something that is not always expressed in words:
The children of our choir (mostly refugee children from Ukraine who fled to Germany from the Russian bombs) saw and felt the horror of war. First and foremost, a song is a healing tool… Besides, it is our national art, our Ukrainian culture.
December, 17th at 13:30 – Sofia Leshyshak
On Sunday, we will enjoy the singing of beautiful Sofia Leshyshak accompanied by a piano play by Elizabeth Ushakova. The song program will consist of Ukrainian traditional and composed songs, which the two young artists interpreted in their own way.
Sofia Leshyshak is a young Ukrainian singer and professional actress. She explores new ways for Ukrainian traditional and original songs to sound while preserving their original intent. The genre she would characterize her work as is Ukrainian fado.
Elizabeth Ushakova is a professional pianist, composer, and arranger who loves Ukrainian, authentic songs.
Beautiful
In addition to the beautiful, we will bring pretty artistic jewelry made by Ukrainian craftsmen. For you to pick a gift for someone or yourself.
Creative
And for our young guests, we will have a creative Christmas corner. So that you can drink Lviv coffee while your kids are enjoying making Christmas gifts.
